Marisa J. Lankester (born March 23, 1963) is an American memoirist. In 1986 Lankester moved to Los Angeles, California to work for Ron ('The Cigar') Sacco in his illegal bookmaking operation, and in doing so, became his first female employee. In January 1992, the FBI and Dominican police raided the Sacco headquarters in Santo Domingo and Lankester was again arrested, though later released. The operation re-opened and Lankester remained on the Island bookmaking until 1994. In 1997, she returned to college in the United States, studying at Marymount Tarrytown College. She eventually settled in Switzerland. Lankester was born in Rome, Italy, to a German mother, Gerda Ella Bury, and a British father, Charles John Lankester, who was working for the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations. In 1969, Lankester's father was transferred to the United Nations headquarters in New York and settled his family in Westchester County, situated approximately 30 miles north of Manhattan. During her teenage years, Lankester was a student at the all-girls Roman Catholic independent Ursuline School. In 1983, two years after graduation, Lankester enrolled at Marymount Manhattan College to study Fine Arts, and later transferred to the University of British Columbia in Vancouver (BC).
